The drive dimensioning of winders and unwinders is one of the key elements of the new Drive Solution Designer (DSD) version by Lenze. The specialist in Motion Centric Automation has put its concerted experience in winding technology into the DSD 4.0. Further highlights of the Windows-8-compatible release include the "Application Tuner" for considerably more detailed drive dimensioning, a series of solutions for mains voltages for the USA, the generation of CAD data and improvements in usability.
The DSD 4.0 makes dimensioning winding drives simpler and more convenient. All important dimensioning features for typical centre winding and unwinding machines are now available for optimising the drive solution. These include a specific motion designer for the special features of the motion control of winders, support in selecting technology, a diameter-based representation of the load variables, use of field weakening, and the examination of the winding process in the torque-speed diagram of the motor-inverter combination.
The tried-and-tested DSD energy balance calculation, the Energy Performance Certificate drive solution, completes the winder solution for both single-axismulti-axis systems.
In order for varying kinds of process data to be used for drive optimization, the DSD 4.0 provides the "Application Tuner". As well as providing a reference scenario, this extension makes it possible to integrate further possible operating states and material recipes into the dimensioning process.
